Barn Dance Band

Our Regular Line-Up

Colin (1) - alias Stratman (but playing a Telecaster in the photo!) plays lead guitar and melody. With over 25 years experience playing traditional dance music Colin draws on his eclectic influences (folk, country, rock and classical) to make the music both contemporary and exciting. Colin also teaches guitar (see our Contacts page)

Frank (2) - Bass Guitar. Frank started his musical career in the 60`s playing rock/R&B venues across the country, recording LP's (what do you mean you've never heard of them!), doing the obligatory tour in Germany and culminating in a three month spell in the Middle East. The early 70`s saw him touring the country doing cabaret work and doing recording sessions for the BBC.

Bob (3) - Rhythm guitar both acoustic and electric, Bob started out in music playing in a brass band at school but swapped the tenor horn for an electric guitar in the 60's. Has played guitar in a couple of busy covers bands during recent years.

Chris - Drums. Chris is the newest addition to the Rogues line up. He is studying a degree in music at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. Primarily a guitarist, when he's not playing for Rogues. Chris is a Singer Songwriter and can be found playing in small venues in Surrey and London.

Guests - We may also bring along other musicians (at no extra charge to you) from time to time, for example Ian on Melodeon (Who also plays with Random, and Pitchfork) and, if one of our regular Rogues is not available, substitute one of our deputies.

Callers - We have a number of callers, Rita, (who also calls with Local Yokels Barn dance Band), Tony, Barrie, Graham, Dai, Dave and Andy frequently front the band but we sometimes use other callers, especially in the folk festival season when our regulars may be away with dance workshops etc. All have been calling for many years and can be relied upon to make yours a successful event.

In memoriam - Roger Nicholls, our drummer for almost 10 years, set up this website for us but, sadly, he died of cancer on 14th March 2002. Helen, who then looked after the site, sadly passed away on 12th April 2003.
